The 1957 replay has
commenced and Week One is in the books. It's pretty much what you would expect
for the first 4-5 game of the seasons. Some bad teams got off to a hot start,
some good teams are struggling, there are a handful of players hitting over .500,
another handful over .400, and Ted Williams is hitting .143 (2-for-14). All of
these things have a way of leveling off as the week's pass, although I suppose
Teddy Ballgame is probably a little eager to get the season moving along so he
can get his hits.Casey Stengel
I am pretty pleased with the start of the season. I keep a copy of the BBR box score open on my second monitor so that I can see what pinch-hitters, relievers, or defensive adjustments were used that day. I am not trying to exactly mimic that real-life game, but I do use those elements as suggestions, maybe even strong suggestions, but it's really just a way to observe and adapt to lineup tendencies that teams deploy.
While Week One was a relatively normal week I suppose, eleven shutouts were definitely not normal. This will sort itself out too, but it was a bit of a surprise. There were a couple of blowouts along the way, but most of the games were relatively close.
I am behind on steal attempts and sacrifices already, but it's early and I have been here before so I am not particularly worried. I did intentionally walk three batters in Week One, which is about three more than I walked in all of 1930, 1949, and 1901. It's just an anathema to me, but I intend to stick with this and get in my IBB's in this replay.
The ATMgr tool is working well and the new stadium backdrops all look good. ATMgr does seem to have trouble pulling up the new stadium backdrop as I go from game to game. It's easily resolvable, I am sure I did something wrong in the set-up, but if is the worst problem I have then I am in pretty good shape.
